Alumni Association
of College of Home Science,

Nirmala Niketan

Our Journey

The Alumni Association of the College of Home Science, Nirmala Niketan (AACHSNN) was established in 1980, inspired by the vision of the Founder Principal, Ms. Colette Galby, and Ms. Noemia D’Souza, then Head of the Department of Textiles & Clothing (now Textiles & Fashion Technology). The Association was conceived as a lifelong platform to nurture alumni engagement, professional collaboration, and social responsibility.

Over the decades, AACHSNN has grown organically, strengthening bonds among alumni across batches and disciplines. In its formative years, the Association actively organized academic and community initiatives and published a bi-monthly newsletter, fostering dialogue and continuity. During this period, the Association functioned as an unregistered alumni body closely aligned with the College.

Our Founders

In December 2022, this vision was formally shared with the alumni leadership. Dr. Ela Dedhia, then Vice President of the unregistered association, was entrusted with the responsibility of leading the transition. Through structured outreach and inclusive engagement across batches and departments, a dedicated team of trustees was formed:
